WEMBLEY HERE WE COME!
THERE won’t be too many pints pulled in some Glossop pubs this Sunday.
Dominoes will be left in their boxes, darts under the boards.
Juke boxes and fruit machines will fall silent.
Drinkers are off to New Wembley, with coaches heading from boozers at first light.
And although the pubs in question will still be open, the beer drinking regulars won’t be there.
Hundreds of football fans are deserting their favourite bars.
Old Glossop’s Bulls Head has booked a coach capable of squeezing in around 70.
Town centre locals the Star, Friendship and Howard Arms, have also hired coaches.
While other pubs and clubs are piling onto a train whose 700 seats are all full.
And where there’s a waiting list of over 70 wannabe passengers.
Many of our pubs are draped in huge banners which will be taken down on Saturday to go with Glossop’s travelling army.
It’s odds on that the fans will also be draped in the blue and white of Glossop.
Supporters have been clamouring for a range of souvenirs that include replica shirts, t-shirts, hats and scarves.
And don’t worry if you still haven’t got yours.
Shops, including the Chronicle office, have the lot, including car stickers, sunshades and mugs.
And for those who literally enjoy the sweet taste of success, Andy Hough of Simon Dunn Chocolatier has come up with some scrumptious creations.
With ‘Glossop North End’ piped in icing on the chocolate.
While for fans who prefer a different taste, there’s a steady supply of Glossop North End bitter at the Star.
Don't miss our special 12-page Wembley Souvenir in this week's Glossop Chronicle.
Plus, don't miss next week’s Chronicle for unrivalled coverage of North End’s game at Wembley.
We will have two journalists at the world famous stadium, plus two photographers pitch-side.
Our men will be also be at Wembley Stadium Station snapping fans when Glossop’s 700-seat soccer special arrives.
Another snapper will be at Glossop station photographing fans.
And we will have another lensman going from coach to coach capturing the atmosphere.
